Avon residents are provided with the following
curbside/lane collections: trash, cans and
bottles, newspapers, cardboard (from businesses
only), leaves, brush, tree limbs, freon
units, bulk items, metal items, tires, and
dried paint. |

| Items
that we cannot collect are: undried paint,
household hazardous waste, concrete, asphalt,
asbestos, grass, propane tanks, fluorescent
bulbs/thermometers, rechargeable and button
batteries and cardboard. |

| Items
that can be brought to the Avon recycling
area are: cans and bottles, newspapers,
cardboard, used motor oil, used antifreeze,
car batteries, rechargeable and button batteries,
junk mail. |

| Note:
Homeowners are responsible for informing
all renters, tenants and/or guests of all
rules and regulations. |

| Trash
Collection |

Trash
is collected twice a week, Mondays
and Thursdays (Click
here for extact dates for Trash
Collection), throughout
the entire town. When a holiday
falls on a Monday, trash collection
will be on the Friday preceding
the holiday and on the Tuesday after
the holiday. Garbage cans must have
handles and lids and cannot be larger
than 32 gallons. No single can is
to weigh more than 50 lbs. (ord.
# 107.7.a). Do not allow cans to
fill with water. Do not tie lids
directly to the cans. Trash mixed
with recycling will not be collected.

lane, or at the curb if you do not
have access to a lane. All containers

Units |

Refrigerators,
freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers
and any other products that contain
freon have a charge of $25.00 per
unit. The fee is payable to the
Borough of Avon. Please include
the address and telephone number.
Once payment is received, we will
collect the unit/s. (Always remember
to remove the doors from refrigerators
and freezers).

| Tires |

There
is a fee of $3 per tire for automobiles
and small pickups. $5 per tire for
large trucks. Tires must not have
rims. The fee is payable to the Borough
of Avon. Once payment is received,
we will collect the tire/s. Please

| Fluorescent
Bulbs/Thermometers |

These
products contain a small amount of
mercury. They can not be brought to
the borough recycling facility. If
you would like to dispose of these
materials, you may bring them unbroken
to some home centers ie Home Depot.
Call ahead to make sure they are accepted.
Large quantity used fluorescent bulb
generators ( offices, stores, etc.
) can order the appropriate boxes
from the internet to have the used
bulbs shipped out and recycled. Click

Hazardous Waste |

All
hazardous waste must be taken to the
Monmouth
County Reclamation Center
in Tinton Falls. Please call ahead
for an appointment and directions
at 732-683-8686. |

of household hazardous waste: paint
thinner, roofing tar, mercury thermometers,
household cleaning products, pesticides,
gasoline, etc. A copy of the Monmouth

outside the gate of the Avon recycling

| Grass |

We
do not collect grass. Grass should
be mulched and left on the lawn. Do
not blow grass into the street. If
you prefer to dispose of your grass
clippings they can be taken to the
Monmouth
County Reclamation Center,
6000 Asbury Ave, Tinton Falls. Please

| Leaves |
| |
Leaves
are collected loose in the street
only between October 1st and December
1st. They should be free of any other
yard debris, grass and trash and kept
four feet from the curb. All other
times of the year, small amounts of
leaves are to be bagged and put out
with your trash. |

We
collect leaves starting with all main
roads to facilitate the run-off of
rainwater to the catch basins. We
then move on to all secondary streets
and lanes.
Please do not park vehicles on top
of the leaves. |

| Tree
Limbs/Yard Waste |
| |
Tree
limbs are to be cut to 4-foot lengths
and tied in manageable bundles. Small
amounts of yard waste and brush are
to be bagged and put out on your regular
trash collection day. Call ahead if
you will have more than half of a
standard pickup truck sized load.

Landscapers
are responsible for the removal of
all grass, brush, yard waste, limbs
and any spring and fall cleaning.
At no time of year should any of these
items be put in the street. Landscapers
ARE allowed to put out leaves loose
in the streets between October 1st
and December 1st only. Please notify
your landscaper of Avon’s rules
and regulations. |

Items |

Metal
is a separate pick up. We collect
metal on average once every two
to three weeks. Please call before
putting out for collection. |

Mail |
| |
Junk
mail can be brought to the recycling
facility. Examples of junk mail
are office paper, envelopes, computer
paper, chip board (ie. cereal type
boxes ), junk mail. Please use appropriate

| Electronics |

The
list of electronics below have to
be recycled as per “ The Electronic
Waste Management Act “ of
New Jersey. State Law prohibits
computers and TV’s and certain
other electronics from being disposed
of in the trash. They must be recycled. |

Items to recycle: |

TV’s (without wood cabinets),
computers, computer monitors, laptops,
hard drives, printers, fax machines,
scanners, keyboards, mice, cables,
radios, phones, cameras, VCR’s,
DVD players, stereo components.

are responsible for removing data
from hard drives. |

There is an “Avon Residents
Only” drop off area at the Public
Works recycling center. Please leave
in the designated area. |

Most all electronic retailers are
required take your old TV or computer
when purchasing a new one. |
